YOU CAN GIVE YOUR CHILD A DISABLED CELL PHONE FOR SAFETY

Do you hate the idea of giving your young child a cell phone and want to delay the inevitable for as long as possible? You know they will get one eventually but the idea of them getting one at so young an age just isn’t something that feels right?

Many parents feel this way and yet cell phones can be used in emergencies too, so they are not all bad.

In a pinch, you can give your child a disabled cell phone (of course it must be charged) because it can be used to dial 911. All cell phones, even old disabled ones, can be used to dial 911. They can’t receive calls but they can dial out to that one number.

Most people have no idea that a charged cell phone, even though it is disabled, can be used in this way in an emergency. So if you are a parent who thinks your child is too young for a phone but wants them to be able to dial 911 for help, you might slip that old phone in their pocket and explain to them how to use it for that purpose.
